The VCIS is a part of the University’s broader vision to deliver holistic education (Samagra Shiksha), aligning with the goals of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. It offers part-time and summer internship opportunities for undergraduate and postgraduate students, facilitating exposure to academic and administrative functions within the university.
Through VCIS, students are placed in various departments, offices, and centers across the university to help them gain real-world skills and experience while continuing their education.

Internship Types and Duration #
1. Regular Internship (During Academic Session)
- Duration: Flexible, with 8–10 hours per week.
- Maximum tenure: Up to 6 months.
2. Summer Internship
- Duration: 8 weeks during summer vacation.

Note: A student can apply only once for VCIS during a particular course of study at the University of Delhi.
Eligibility Criteria #
- Must be a bonafide, full-time regular student of the University of Delhi.
- Open to students of all courses and streams (UG/PG).

Number of Internships #
- Initially, 200 internship slots are proposed (combined for summer and regular).

Benefits & Stipend Structure #
1. Monetary Compensation
- Summer Interns: ₹10,000/month
- Regular Interns: ₹5,000/month
Stipend is drawn from the University Student Welfare Fund and increases by 5% each financial year.
2. Experience Certificate
- Issued by the Dean of Students’ Welfare upon successful completion.
- Designation: “VC Intern” (mentioned in the certificate).
Important Guidelines #
- Internship opportunities are available year-round, based on department requirements.
- Internship work should not interfere with regular class attendance.
- No stipend or certificate will be granted if the intern:
- Does not fulfill the minimum duration.
- Fails to complete assigned tasks.
- Does not submit the required final report.
- The DSW office reserves the right to modify or cancel any internship conditions at any time.
- A student may only apply once per academic year.

Step 3: Submit Application
- Choose up to three domain preferences.
- Upload all required documents (LOR, NOC, Resume).
- Once submitted, the application remains valid for up to six months.
Step 4: Screening Process
- Applications are screened by the DSW based on interest areas and number of available slots.
- Shortlisted candidates are invited for interaction with the Selection Committee, comprising:
- Dean, Students’ Welfare (Chairperson)
- Proctor or nominee
- Two members nominated by the Vice Chancellor
- Joint Dean, Students’ Welfare (Member Secretary)
Step 5: Final Selection
- The list of selected candidates will be published on the DSW website.
- Selected students will receive a formal joining letter (Annexure-D).
Step 6: Completion & Certification
- Interns must submit:
- A training report (Annexure-E)
- Completed tasks as assigned by the hosting office
- Certificate is granted only after satisfactory performance review by the concerned department.
